Jagger Spun's Gotland yarn combines the same high-quality, top-dyed wool used in their Heather line, with Gotland wool. Gotland sheep produce lustrous fiber with a natural silvery shine that dyes beautifully.
These rich colors have a gray undertone that work well together, as well as with other yarns in the Heather line.
About who makes it:
Spun in Maine by Jagger, a family-run fiber mill with a nearly 140-year spinning tradition, this yarn is created with wool from the UK that is brought to Jagger, where it is spun into their Heather line. The "heathering" effect is created by a "dyed in the wool" process that dyes the fiber before it is spun, and then blends it to create the nuanced colors you see in each skein. The Heather line offers richly saturated solid colors, as well as heathered shades, in a high-quality yarn that supports New England's fiber-making history.
Maine has a long and proud tradition of woolen mills, but very few exist in operation today. We're so happy to partner with Jagger and bring this beautiful yarn - a piece of our home state, and the heritage of its fibershed - to our shop for you to enjoy.
