Léttlopi may look small, but these little skeins of Icelandic yarn, or lopi, offer us big traceability when it comes to sustainable making and knowing where our wool comes from!

Made by Ístex, Iceland's only yarn-producing mill, Léttlopi is a worsted weight yarn with deep roots in its nation's farming and sustainability. Icelandic wool comes from small, family-owned farms across the island, where sheep spend their summers grazing on the mountains, and then are brought home for winter in community-organized sorting events call réttir. The dual-coated sheep produce a wonderful fiber that knits and crochets up into warm, feather-light garments.

Léttlopi may technically be worsted weight, but it is flexible at many gauges. Light, water repellent and fast-drying, it is comfortable on both warm and cold winter days, with a rainbow of choices for your next colorwork project.

  • 100% Icelandic
  • Worsted/aran weight
  • 50 grams/109 yards
  • Gauge: 18 stitches/4 inches on a US size 8 needle

We make every effort to photograph yarn colors as accurately as possible, but individual screen resolutions may vary.

Note: COVID-related supply issues have temporarily impacted our ability to fully stock all the colors of Léttlopi. The mill continues to send us more yarn as it becomes available. We love everything about Icelandic yarn and Léttlopi, and plan to continue stocking it for the future; subscribe to our newsletter for updates!
