This 2-ply yarn by Green Mountain Spinnery is our favorite responsibly-sourced cotton blend for baby knits, summertime knits, and year-round comfort!

Cotton Comfort works up to the perfect fabric that combines the best of both cotton and wool: breathable, super lightweight and with just a bit of bounce. Its elasticity makes it easy on the hands as you work, and the wool gives it "memory," so your garment keeps its shape through every wash without becoming heavy or overstretched. Easy-wearing and washing for baby and kids' clothes, it is cool in summer and warm in winter.

With Targhee wool sourced from the Rockies, organic cotton from Texas, and all of it spun and dyed in Vermont, this is truly an American-made and -sourced yarn to wear and love!

Colorways Silver, White (unbleached) and Beech are processed using the Spinnery's environmentally friendly "greenspun" method, which uses no petroleum-based products or chemicals to prepare and spin the yarn.

  • 80% Targhee, 20% organic cotton
  • DK-weight
  • 2 oz/180 yards
  • Gauge: 20-30 stitches/4 inches on US size 1-6 needles

About who makes it: We love everything about local-to-us Green Mountain Spinnery. They spin some pretty famous yarns; if you've ever crochet or knit with Julie Asselin, Tidal Yarns, Catskill Merino, Sawkill Farm, or Wing and a Prayer Farm, you've experienced the crafts(wo)manship of the Spinnery.

Based in Vermont, this worker-owned cooperative focuses on supporting regional farming and producing natural fibers responsibly; they are one of the only mills in the US that is certified to produce organic fiber. We can spot a Green Mountain-spun skein at any sheep and wool festival for its consistent spin and perfect twist, and we're so happy to introduce you to one of our favorite companies in the New England fiber shed. Our local farms could not do what they do without the partnership of the Spinnery.
