About this yarn: Made of 80% Targhee (a fine wool cross between Rambouillet and Columbia) and 20% organic cotton, this 2-ply yarn by Green Mountain Spinnery is our favorite summertime blend!
Don't be fooled by the lower percentage of cotton - this works up to the perfect fabric that combines the best of both fibers: breathable, airy, super lightweight and with just a bit of bounce. Its elasticity makes it easy on the hands as you knit or crochet with it, and the high percentage of wool means it has "memory," so your garment keeps its shape through every wash.
With the Targhee wool sourced from the Rockies, the organic cotton from Texas, and all of it spun and dyed in Vermont, this is truly an American-made and sourced yarn to wear and love!
Sample: The Cozy Classic Raglan by Jessie Mae Martinson of Jessie Maed Designs, in colorway Weathered Green.

About who makes it: We love everything about local-to-us Green Mountain Spinnery. They spin some pretty famous yarns; if you've ever crochet or knit with Julie Asselin, Tidal Yarns, Catskill Merino, or Wing and a Prayer Farm, you've experienced the crafts(wo)manship of the Spinnery.
Based in Vermont, this worker-owned cooperative focuses on supporting regional farming and producing natural fibers responsibly; they are one of the only mills in the US that is certified to produce organic fiber. Heather says she can spot a Green Mountain-spun skein at any sheep and wool festival for its consistent spin and perfect twist.
We're so happy to introduce you to one of our favorite companies in the New England fibershed. Our local farms could not do what they do without the partnership of the Spinnery, and we know you'll love making with this truly excellent yarn.
