About this yarn: Ovejas is a 100% Romney yarn from New England, hand-dyed by our friends at Prado de Lana in beautiful jewel-toned shades - pair them together, or with our marled yarn from Great Bay Wool Works!
This worsted weight fiber has an even twist and light, lofty feel; while rustic in texture, we consider it next-to-skin soft, characteristic of all good Romney wool. This is a hard-wearing fiber that will not pill on your garments and will soften and bloom wonderfully with washing and blocking. Appropriate for every kind of project you can dream up and a joy in colorwork - in our home, we happily wear Ovejas as hats, mitts, cowls and sweaters!
Samples: The Rug Weaver Headband by Tressa Weidenaar of Tsin Bikee' Knits, in colorways Chile Guajillo and Tonalá; the Plum Blossom Hand Warmers by Tiffany Wong of Made at Linden, in colorway Tonalá.
Each skein of worsted is 200 yards/182 meters, about 4 oz.
About the farm: Prado de Lana (translation: Wool Meadow) is a family-run sheep farm specializing in wool products from Romney, Lincoln Longwool, Merino and CVM/Romeldale sheep. From shepherdess Amanda: "We are the Barcenas family - Amanda, Alberto, Sammy, and Noelia. Agriculture and sustainable living have always been importance to us. From our organic garden to our free-range chickens, sheep were the perfect livestock for our family. Not only would this be an awesome business adventure for us, but it would create unforgettable memories and learning opportunities for our children."
